Product Release: Alerts
We’re proud to support local government officials that embrace data to adopt a more proactive approach to compliance and planning. But we also recognize the challenges that come with this shift. When our users start exploring the wealth of data that they have traditionally kept siloed away, they quickly uncover blind spots and fresh insights.
These are new opportunities to be more efficient and better serve their citizens. But they often require regular follow-up to implement effectively. Run the analysis, re-run it at regular intervals, and disseminate it. All that takes time, and time is one thing none of our users have a lot of. Well, we think an exciting new feature in BuildingBlocks can help to change all that.
Today we launched Alerts for BuildingBlocks. Working in conjunction with your Saved Filters, Alerts will deliver the insights you & your team need directly to your inbox.
- Step 1: Apply the non-owner-occupied filter.
- Step 2: Filter out any properties that are currently registered.
- Step 3: Save the filter.
- Step 4: Set an Alert either daily or weekly.

That’s it! Easy, right?
You’ll get an email every day or every week listing the new properties require follow-up and the properties that no longer do. So in the rental registration example, you’ll get an email as soon as the registration lapses, and you won’t have to go into BuildingBlocks to re-run your filter.
You can also share these with your team so they get regular email alerts. In the rental registration example, say you manage a team of inspectors. You can set up an alert that carves out a territory, then share that with whoever is responsible. You can even add a note to the email when you share it.
If there are certain triggers that require re-registration, you can add these filters into your Saved Search. Property sales, changes to utility billing information, change of use permits…all of these can be used to set up alerts so you stay on top of what needs follow-up.
Or, if you send out periodic notices to encourage registration, you can use the Mail Merge tool (learn more) to automatically format the list of property owners’ names and addresses for mailings.
